چکیده
Analogies between Pattern Recogn i t ion and St ati stacal Communication Theory are pointed out. With the relat ive entropy between the "ideal a t t r i bute" and "heuristic at t r ibute" sets as an index of performance, optimum selection of possible heur i s t i c operators resuJ ts in a recognition deci sion in probabi l i t ty , with t he smallest possi ble average number of tests during a "sequential ana lysis"'. On the other hand, a computer gencrati on of quasi-optimal operators may be done based on nume r ical attr ibutes using the same entropy index of performance. Experimental results are presented : Optimal operator choice is demonstrated for recognition of handwri tten capital le t te r words and for vocoder speech recogniti on. Computer bui ldi ng of quasi-optimal operators Is shown for d ig i t ized images. They are l imited to f i r s t level l inear numerical operators. The probabil ity distr ibut ion of the events is not modifi ed by any observation knowledge , which then gives no information on X. Information theory provides a measure of this information obtained by the observation knowledge Among many possible presentations let us re cal l br ie f ly the "Questionnaire theory" approach, cf. Pi card (13) , Terrenoi re (15) ; Th.e average minimum number of binary ques tions to be asked to obtain the prohahil i ty one answer is given by

The Assessment of Applying Chaos Theory for Daily Traffic Estimation
Road traffic volumes in intercity roads are generally estimated by probability functions, statistical techniques or meta-heuristic approaches such as artificial neural networks. As the road traffic volumes depend on input variables and mainly road geometrical design, weather conditions, day or night time, weekend or national holidays and so on, these are also estimated by pattern recognition te...
متن کاملWeighted similarity measure on interval-valued fuzzy sets and its application to pattern recognition
A new approach to define the similarity measure betweeninterval-valued fuzzy sets is presented. The proposed approach isbased on a weighted measure in which the normalized similaritiesbetween lower functions and also between upper functions arecombined by a weight parameter. The properties of this similaritymeasure are investigated. It is shown that, the proposed measurehas some advantages in c...
متن کاملFuzzy Clustering Approach Using Data Fusion Theory and its Application To Automatic Isolated Word Recognition
In this paper, utilization of clustering algorithms for data fusion in decision level is proposed. The results of automatic isolated word recognition, which are derived from speech spectrograph and Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) analysis, are combined with each other by using fuzzy clustering algorithms, especially fuzzy k-means and fuzzy vector quantization. Experimental results show that the...
متن کاملThe Application of Numerical Analysis Techniques to Pattern Recognition of Helicopters by Area Method
In this paper, a new method to selecting different viewing angles feature vector is introduced to recognition different types of Helicopters. Feature vector 32 components based on characteristics of the shape, Area and a length to describe a binary two-dimensional image was created, shape feature and length feature not only effective but area features effective and were used. New features vecto...
